OUR MISSION

The San Antonio de Padua Food Pantry Ministry is a charitable ministry of service to families who are in need of food throughout local and surrounding communities. It is the goal of our service ministry to provide support and compassion to those we serve by continuing God’s work of sharing “thy gifts from thy bounty”.

FOOD PANTRY DONATIONS

The Food Pantry is reliant on food donations from parishioners and donations from  partnerships with The Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, Vons Market, Panera Restaurant and the Big Lots store.  In addition, we receive annual fundraising food donations from local sources, such as Mater Dei High School, First Team Realtors and St. Francis of Assisi School.

OPEN PANTRY HOURS

  • The Food Pantry is open every Thursday, 12:00 to 3:00pm - Room A (Except Thanksgiving holiday)
  • A Spanish bilingual volunteer is available for assistance.

HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP

  • URGENT REQUEST: Our church pantry is in dire need of the following items: Cereals, Canned Chicken, Canned “SPAM,” All types of Pasta and Pasta Sauce. Drop off your donation on Thursday during open hours - Room A.
  • Parish food collection day is every 3rd Sunday of each month.
  • Food donations and grocery gift cards may be dropped off during open pantry hours.

 VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers provide assistance with organizing pantry set-up, required record keeping, preparing and packaging food, distribution of food bags, refrigerated items, personal hygiene products, and miscellaneous items as needed.

  • Scheduled on a flexible weekly basis
  • Volunteers who pick up food from The Second Harvest Food Bank are required to pass a written test to receive the food handler certification.

EVENTS

In collaboration with the Family Assistance Ministry and the Youth Ministry, all Food Pantry Ministry families have an opportunity to receive a Thanksgiving basket and Christmas toys for children.  School age children may receive backpacks and school supplies during the “Back to School” Backpack Program.

COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS
