Then & Now: Arciero Family

Tony and Mary Arciero and Family:

Our family moved to  Anaheim Hills from Montebello in 1973, since there was no Catholic Church near by we attended mass at St. Norbert’s in Orange. In 1977 Bishop Johnson established a new parish here in Anaheim Hills with Father Seamus as the pastor for San Antonio de Padua. During the planning and construction of the new church Father Seamus said mass in the cafeteria at El Rancho Junior High School

Once the church was built they had many events to bring our community together. For many years our family was in charge of one of the booths at the fiesta. In the early 80’s San Antonio started a men’s slow pitch softball league in which Tony, our Son, and Son-in-law played on one of the teams. It was a fun time where we made friends and really enjoyed the friendly competition, especially playing against Deacon Doug’s team. Mary, through San Antonio Church became involved with Casa Teresa, Isaiah’s House, and Mary’s Kitchen. Eventually Mary got her daughters involved who still work with her to this day. Tony, in 2015 became a member of The Knights Of Columbus and is now a Third Degree. We both enjoyed the camaraderie and the charitable work the organizations do.

In the 40 years that we have known Father Seamus he married 2 of our children, Baptized 6 of our Grandchildren, and recently married one of our Granddaughters. Our family has been blessed to have had Father Seamus, Father Joe, Father John, Father Dave, Deacon Doug, Deacon Paul and the numerous Parochial Vicars in our life here at San Antonio Parish.
